Yo, Where the Fuck is Zom?

Yo, Where the Fuck is Zom?

You may be asking yourself that question, particularly if you follow the Weekly Peakly, which hasn’t been updated in a hot minute. I thought I might take a bit to settle in and give an update, talking about the shape of things to come and why they haven’t been shaping up in the most recent weeks.

So, a few weeks back my dumb ass caught a tree that fell from a ledge above me while I was on a hike. I won’t go into too many details here, as I want to do a proper write up for it within the Weekly Peakly, but the end of the story is that I fractured my wrist and had to take a step back from flinging myself at the wilderness. That took about three weeks to heal, during which time I was advised to avoid the woodlands, and that would have been fine…except three days before I was supposed to get my brace off I managed to slip in my room.

It was nothing major, but I did whack my head, which resulted in a concussion. It was mild this time! But it still took a good four weeks to recover. Immediately after that, California being on fire lowered Seattle’s air quality so much that hiking was inadvisable. Then there was PAX. Then I had to move.

This upcoming weekend is actually the first one where I might have a chance to get out on a trail. I’m not sure which one yet, but up to this point I’ve been so damn busy that I couldn’t even keep all my tasks straight. It’s been a wild and crazy time. The Weekly Peakly will be resuming soon, however, and I am going to see what I can do about hiking more often to try and make up for lost time.

Now, on to more exciting updates!!

If you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed the announcement that my D&D streaming group has gone through a rebrand! We are now, officially, The Laughing Dragon Inn! I suggest taking a look at our Twitch and Youtube channels, if you want to see what that’s all about. We’ve got a Twitter account, as well, which you can check for updates on the reg. It’s been a lot of fun, and I think we’ve created some very interesting stories for you to sink your teeth into, with a cast of dynamic characters to boot! There will be some more exciting things to do with that coming up very soon, so keep your eye on us!

A few of you out there have been poking at some of my unfinished fanfiction pieces, and I can feel your questions about when they will be finished. I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: I have not abandoned the stories! I intend to finish each one of them, but now that I’ve got so much on my plate it’s more difficult to juggle the organization of it all. And, alas, I will probably never return to the feverish chapter-a-day pace that I kept while writing As Bright as the Stars, in part because I have too many other things to do, but also because that pace wasn’t exactly healthy and while the comments and praise for my speed were always delightful, I wasn’t happy. However, I do plan on trying to set aside a more consistent schedule for my wordsmithing, and you can expect to see some chapters trickling out as a result. I’m aiming to work on my Dragon Age series first, but I may flit around between my stories as my mood takes me.

Also, I have been working on a sequel to Unlucky! The next true sequel is still a ways out, but there will be a novella that bridges the time gap between the end of book one and the start of book two. I’ve tentatively titled it The Lavender Dame, and if you want the elevator pitch, it’s a noir spoof in which a certain lesbian dark wizard hires a gritty unicorn detective to track down a pig thief. So, if you read Unlucky and are impatiently waiting more, first of all review the damn book! Let me know how you felt about it! I’m thirsty for that good, good feedback, y’all. Don’t just leave me hanging! But also, there is more coming up, so do not despair.

I’m still in the process of moving into a new apartment, but as soon as I get settled I think I’ll be able to start shaping up what my schedule will look like. I’m brimming with words, though, and my palms have been itching for some writing time for a while. Catch me in those awesome D&D streams in the meantime and know that the onslaught of verbosity is on its way!
